From Keanu Reeves' The Matrix Trilogy, and Will Smith's I Robot, to the animated picture entitled Wall-E, these are all movies that had futuristic themes and showed what living would be like in a few years or so. But apart from robots, tin men, and special effects, these movies had another thing in common, and it is those super computers that were immensely powerful and had the capability to have power over a whole lot of things in the real world.
If you take these different movies, look outside the action scenes and the story lines, and just concentrate on the different types of technology that they are showing, it will not take you long to notice that the technology that we have nowadays is not very distinct from the ones that they have in those "futuristic" movies. In a nutshell, these movies were somehow able to foretell, or at least point us in the right track of the way technology will advance in the future.
In our world today, it is difficult to visualize what life would be like without the abundant technologies that we use in our daily lives, mainly the powerful computers that have begun to participate in roles of ever growing significance in our modern society. These gaps in information security gave rise to high-tech cryptography, which is essentially a collective term for practices that are being used to secure the great amounts of information passing through computer systems all around the world.
