I just use (Free) Spamfighter and that works just fine. Norton also has a search engine filter which will install into your browser.
I prefer purchasing directly from Amazon whenever possible. Their prices are always competitive and their customer service is top notch - bar none. As soon I installed it, it detected 2 viruses my other antivirus had not detected. The best part is it does not slow down your computer like most of the other antivirus.
There's no better proof than running the trial version for yourself. BE WARNED, this is not protection for 3 PCs for 1 year unless you install all 3 PCs on the same day. Definitely don't even consider buying this until the problem is known to be fixed. I always use to hate Norton antivirus products until a couple years ago when I read excellent reviews about their Internet Security package.
I am a big Norton fan. Unfortunately, this particular one I already had installed and thought I was ordering the 2012 software. After reading the reviews I decided to purchase Norton and give it another go - the program has really sped up my computer - works great! Also - the price here on Amazon is unbeatable. The interface is classy and easy to understand. I tried another major AV package that came along with my new laptop and really did not like it. They didn't seem to upgrade or downgrade too much on this new version. It does seem you can turn off Idle Scans in though which is a huge plus. I have been using the Norton security products for many years, and I have been for the most part very satisfied with them. The one gripe I have is that every year when I go to renew my subscription, I find that I can purchase new copies of the software for less than the renewal price. My environment is still XP-Pro SP3, IE 8, and a PC at least five years old. More than just a security utility, this one provides useful information.
I've tried several other security suites and the Norton's ease of use, well known top-of-the-line security, and the great "Amazon" price and delivery gave me the best value for my dollar. When I next purchase I will upgrade to the Norton 360 or equivalent and have a total security and management system all in one.
