The two most important features of any headset are its ability to reduce, or totally eliminate, background noise and its ability to allow hands-free telephone operation . The user is enabled to function more efficiently at work or at home by these two qualities, more than any other.

Typically, a headset generally comprises of a tube for speaking through and one or two earpieces for listening into . Once, they were really only seen and used in such industries as broadcasting and airline operations . They soon became popular, however, with music fans because of the stereo sound quality they offer and the level of private listening they provide . More recently, their use has become widespread and common due to the increased use of gaming consoles, iPods, iPhones, computers and laptops .

For Business Use - Choosing A Headset

With the range of voice communication that is now prevalent in modern workplaces, the use of headsets is essential . To make sure all work environment needs are accommodated, there are numerous factors that managers or business owners should look at when undertaking a headset review .

First amongst the considerations are to decide whether corded or cordless types are required and whether to choose single or dual earpiece designs . The choice of monaural or binaural styles will usually depend on your type of business . For instance, dual earpieces offer greater noise reduction and are suitable for call centre type operations . On the other hand, single earpieces allow employees to keep in touch with their surroundings and interact with colleagues while taking telephone calls .

Nowadays, practically every staff member works at a computer. Whether they are corded or cordless, headsets are obviously necessary because they enable staff to work hands-free at their keyboards while they are taking calls. And, for those who need to roam around the office or travel outside it, the wireless variety are probably the best option . However, again in operations such as call centres, which may require a high rotation of staff, wired headsets that are stationary or attached to a particular workstation may prove more advantageous .

A Headset For Home Use - Choosing One

With the vast range of interactive computer applications and games that are available, a headset has also almost become a must-have for home use . Because they are likely to use a wide array of gadgets, this applies especially in homes where there are young adults or children. Furthermore, it is important that other occupants in a household are not forced to listen to an array of noise from various sources while each individual needs a degree of privacy to use their own choice of applications .

For recreational activities, dual piece headsets are generally thought to be best because of their ability to reduce virtually all background sound . Also, for competitive game playing activities and for listening to music, they are thought to convey higher, stereo sound quality, which is important.

There is, without doubt, a great choice of headsets to ensure the buyer can find an effective and stylish solution, whatever their requirement .
