A Quick Look At How To Connect Window Server And A SQL Server

By Anne Liew

Generally, running the home server allows you to connect several computers by just a few basic but simple steps. The first thing you need to do is to identify the type of server you are running on. Check if you are running on a wireless and wired server. The wired ones have been in the market for sometime now while the wireless ones are somewhat recent.

Generally, a wired network will require Ethernet cable to connect. You will need to plug in the Ethernet cable onto your computer and also onto the server's modem. Upon plugging in the Ethernet cable and switching on the computer, you should be able to see an LED light up at the computer port. You will see one or two monitors at the bottom left of your screen depending on the type of connection you are running on. This is basically an indication that you have connected successfully.

You will then click at the icon at the lower left corner of your screen typically one or two monitors. On the drop down menu, click on the search for connections buttons. This will prompt the computer to search for any available connections on your computer. Typically, a wired network takes just a few moments to find the connection. The wireless server however will take some time before it finds this connection. Once the computer finds this connection, you'll need to input your password to connect.

Connecting the SQL server. SQL is the initials for Secure Query Language. This is a programming language that was originally developed by IBM using relational calculus and algebra. Developed in nineteen seventy four, this technology is very useful in database management.

The SQL server management studio for 2008 can help you connect to a remote SQL server from a local computer in the network. Usually, the sever management studio for 2008 is free and can be downloaded online. Ideally, this system is designed to help database administrators manage database tools without necessarily having to sit in front of their screens.

The SQL server can also install on a windows server as long as it is registered. In order to register, it must have a name. This registration is important for maintaining a number of objects like tables, views among other data.

To register, you would go to the bottom right of your computer screen and click the start button. You will then need to click on the all programs button. There, you should be able to see a button indicated as SQL server. You'll click this button and then go to the management studio in order to open the main console.

At the main console, right click the name of your server to open the window wizard for registration. It is on this registration wizard window that you will input a few data such as the name of your sever. You must also input the description.

Basically, you need to fill in all the slots on the wizard window. Once you have completed filling the wizard window, click the save button. The wizard window will automatically close. On completion, you should able to see your new data base registered on the left side of the screen.
