Survey Reflects That IT Skills Are In Demand Globally

By Dean Prater

A most recently conducted international survey in the UK, US, Brazil and China revealed that technical proficiency in sectors such as information technology, social media plus mobile computing are needed for a bright future of the growing global workforce. The customer survey performed by the Global Partnership Schools and PwC's GEMS Education was targeted on asking business management whether or not the current education system will satisfy the long term needs of operating an enterprise. The study results related to the importance of an assortment of technological expertise needed to succeed in any kind of sector.

Findings of the survey

Amongst 400 prosperous leaders, 37% claimed that a more complete knowledge of technological skills is vital. As documented in a news story, nearly all American business people gave most importance to the growing demand for information technology skillsets in their personnel over required skills. A number of participants from the U.S. as well as the United Kingdom felt that students are not being equipped well enough to handle the new workplace. This must be resolved straight away since the labor force of a nation is definitely rivaling skilled international job seekers currently. With the emergence of countries such as India, China and Brazil, the global economy has a lot to offer with respect to development and growth. The workforce from these countries are increasingly growing skilled and posing considerable competition to the developed economies.

The review results also indicated that specialized technical abilities were considered important for the future international workplace. Management from developing economies believed that these abilities were vital although the front runners from established countries gave them decreased importance. Other than this, cross cultural networking abilities were voted important by developed countries whereas the developing nations did not give them significant importance.

The deficit of the IT skills in today's workforce

As the information technology competencies grow in significance with passing time, real concerns are developing among the business leaders. They think that current students do not have the essential proficiency required to face the challenges of the global community. Only 43% of the US forerunners, 50% of the UK frontrunners and a few Brazilian respondents considered that the present day students have adequate potential for leading tomorrow's workforce. A considerable portion of the participants thought that the state denies them access for reforming the education systems present in their own countries. 51% of the Chinese frontrunners, 59 % of the front runners from UK, 63 % of US front runners and 67% of the market leaders from Brazil who participated in the customer survey also believed that their governing bodies have to improve the rate of numeracy and literacy proficiency in their countries.

What can be done

Because the international marketplace is in demand for innovative IT talent, students can opt for specializing in advanced IT skills opting for courses including oracle adf training classes or java classes. Courses, that offers these sought after IT skills, also need to be incorporated into the education system to ready the students at present for the future. Government must also allow the business leaders in addition to local community to help with reforming and developing a new education system to make certain that students can profit from it and prepare themselves for tomorrow's competition.
